Saori Matsushita creates contemporary ceramics that blend minimalism with playful creativity. Using Nerikomi and Neriage techniques, she transforms colorful clay into origami-like forms that surprise and delight. Trained in ceramic sculpture, Saori pushes the boundaries of traditional pottery, crafting pieces that are both functional and artistic. Each creation carries emotion, craft, and imagination, bringing beauty, joy, and quiet poetry into everyday life.

The Porcelain Paper Plane is crafted by folding porcelain clay sheets, layered to create patterns reminiscent of a notepad. The word “Yes.” carries a message of affirmation and positivity, inspired by Yoko Ono’s iconic work Ceiling Painting / Yes Painting. Drawing from cherished childhood memories of sending paper airplane letters, this conceptual piece celebrates self-acceptance and the affirmation of those we hold dear.

Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese technique with roots dating back centuries, originally practiced in China and later embraced in Japan. Colored clay is carefully layered and then sliced to reveal intricate patterns within the porcelain itself. Unlike painting or glazing, the design is part of the clay, giving each piece a unique texture and visual depth that can be appreciated from every angle.
Each piece is handcrafted in small batches of just 5–10 items at a time. Because they are made by hand, the patterns and shapes vary slightly with each batch, making every work unique. Unlike mass-produced ceramics, these artful creations are designed to become your personal treasures — one-of-a-kind pieces that carry the care, skill, and vision of the artist.
