This porcelain mug is constructed from patterned sheets made using the nerikomi technique, assembled into a soft, pouch-like form. The handle is inspired by the folded fabric tags found on clothing, translating the structure of sewn fabric into porcelain.

While its form is unconventional, each mug is tested to ensure that it does not leak and is fully functional for everyday use. Despite its playful and unexpected shape, the low, softly squared form also feels surprisingly at home with Japanese tea.

Please note: Each mug is individually handmade, and the shape, pattern placement, lines, and subtle distortions will vary from piece to piece. These variations are part of the character of each piece and make every mug unique.

Care Information

  • Hand wash: Most of Saori M Stoneware items are dishwasher-safe, but hand washing is recommended. Please use mild soap and warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or metal sponges that can scratch the surface of the glaze or clay.
  • Avoid extreme temperature changes: Sudden changes in temperature can cause handmade ceramics to crack or break. Avoid placing ceramics directly on a stovetop or in the oven, as well as placing them in the freezer.
  • Do Not Stack: To avoid scratches or chips, use protective padding such like papers, cloth when stacking ceramic dishes or bowls to store.
  • Dry Storing: Avoid storing ceramics in a damp or humid environment in long term, as it can cause mold to the piece.
