This delicate porcelain dish is inspired by a folded lace handkerchief. A thin sheet of porcelain is embossed with a lace pattern, folded into quarters, and finished with my original glaze, developed to evoke the appearance of sugar icing and softly polished marble.

The glaze has a transparent matte surface with fine crazing throughout. Depending on the angle of the light, tiny crystalline particles may also catch the light and sparkle subtly across the surface.

Use it as a small tray for jewelry, keys, or other personal objects, or as a decorative surface for a candle.

*As with all of my work, this piece is made with lead- and cadmium-free materials. However, this particular glaze has not been tested for food-contact safety, so please do not use this piece as tableware or for serving food.

**Each piece is handmade, so slight variations in color, shape, surface, and glaze are to be expected. 

***Small brown speckles may occasionally appear in the glaze due to the natural minerals in the materials. These are a natural part of the glaze and are not stains or imperfections.

Care Information

  • Hand wash: Most of Saori M Stoneware items are dishwasher-safe, but hand washing is recommended. Please use mild soap and warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or metal sponges that can scratch the surface of the glaze or clay.
  • Avoid extreme temperature changes: Sudden changes in temperature can cause handmade ceramics to crack or break. Avoid placing ceramics directly on a stovetop or in the oven, as well as placing them in the freezer.
  • Do Not Stack: To avoid scratches or chips, use protective padding such like papers, cloth when stacking ceramic dishes or bowls to store.
  • Dry Storing: Avoid storing ceramics in a damp or humid environment in long term, as it can cause mold to the piece.
